A Career Technical Education guide for students, parents, and counselors
The California Department of Education needed a more efficient method for high school students to research college credit transferable high school courses. Rather than searching through pages of class descriptions and relational charts, students can simply click through to the personalized charts that they need. Programs of study can be found by browsing related occupations, industry sectors, or simply viewing a map of schools in your area.
Pathways was originally created for the North/Far North consortium of schools under the direction of Butte College. In the summer of 2009, with funding from the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, the system was expanded to house data for the entire state. Since then we have been working with districts and regions to help organize their programs of study so they are accessible for students, parents, and the school staff that work with them to chart their futures.
The system was originally built on the Backroads Portal System, but eventually moved to Cognoti when the intended audience expanded beyond northern California. Cognoti is available for license for projects. Contact us to see how we can make this system work for you.
Technologies utilized: Cognoti, PostgreSQL, Google Maps.
